If you don't get the joke, it doesn't make sense till he reaches the punchline. When he says "Orange you glad I didn't say banana?" the word "orange" is mean't to sound like "aren't", so in reality he's saying "Aren't you glad I didn't say banana?", thus, finishing the joke.
