I think I might've spent a little bit more effort than I expected.
I figured out how to animate sprites using anchoring techniques. This is mainly what was used to make those Flash-styled animations. Each part, like the limbs is an individual object that is anchored to its parent. To show this, I used Squirtle from Pokemon Black/White as the game also uses a similar technique to what you see. I gave him some pretty lively animations like jumping. He even blinks occasionally.
Credits:
The sprites and music are from Pokemon Black/White
The background is from Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platium, except I poorly modified the background for this project.
